The Depot Retail Precinct

PODCON were invited to be involved in the new retail revitalisation project in the later stages of 2020 with the critical consideration being the need for operation before the start of 2021 ‘O Week” to ensure the students on campus experience was not compromised. The changing environment around the campus created the need for the QUT Bookshop to evolve into a flexible space incorporating the original bookshop in addition to a new heath orientated café, university supplies, snacks, and apparel.

Undertaking the project over the Christmas period created challenges throughout manufacturing and installation processes. Crucial consideration around off-site detailing and on-site coordination was essential to ensure the 25-meter-long feature curved timber ceilings and light fittings produced the intended WOW factor. PODCON were able to successfully deliver the new space back to the university prior to start of term to enable operation well before the start of Term 1 and the critical ‘O Week’.
